Jordie Lane, returns to Australia after over two years of international touring,
to release the first single from his eagerly awaited third album, on

Friday 18th March, with a Melbourne Only live show at The Gasometer Hotel.

Joined by the full Band for the first time in over two years, the launch will feature a host of special guests including Sweet Jean and Leah Senior, to celebrate Lane’s freshly penned folk-garage-rock track, Frederick Steele McNeil Ferguson.
This is the first instalment from Jordie’s forthcoming album, slated for release later this year, and just scratches the surface of sound thats moving some distance away from his previously folk based style.

Harking back to the flavour of Bob Dylan’s ‘Street Legal’ album, with spectral female chorale
and an epic landscape created with a band sound that speaks of Neil Young travelling from solo to Crazyhorse, Frederick Steele McNeil Ferguson spins a homegrown tale between a world war one veteran and the concept of ancestral sin passing down through generations.

With a makeshift mindset not unlike his approach to his critically acclaimed 2011 album, ‘Blood Thinner’, Jordie went searching for the right space to find the answers for this new project. He found a converted garage bungalow in Glassell Park, a little neighbourhood tucked in North-East Los Angeles, California. All instrumentation was recorded and engineered entirely by Lane himself, along with vocal choir arrangements by co-producer, Clare Reynolds, within the confines of this space.

Jordie explains it:

“With the studio doubling as a kitchen, and no actual door to the bedroom, there was really no escaping making this music. I worked night-shift hours, day after day, exactly how i pleased. I’d wake up at 4:30 in the afternoon just to see the winter sun go down, fry up some eggs, and walk the local streets at dusk with a cup of shitty coffee. Then I would work from about 6pm till 8am just in time to see the sunrise the next morning! I’ve realised it’s not only liberating but necessary for me to do it this way, and I just wasn’t hopeful of finding a studio, engineers and session musos who were all going to be cool with this schedule, so I just thought, I’ll do this myself.”

It’s been 4 years since Lane’s last official album, But he hasn’t stopped being one of the hardest working Melbourne musos. With continuous tours across the US, Canada, the UK and New Zealand, along with the release of his Nashville made EP, ‘Not Built To Last’ produced by Skylar Wilson (Justin Townes Earle,Wanda Jackson) which scored him National US airplay on Sirius-XM Radio, and tours with the likes of Ruthie Foster and The Stray Birds, he then embarked on a 18 month world tour of his Live album ‘Live At The Wheaty’.
In that time Jordie has played at many of the world’s leading folk festivals including Philadelphia Folk Festival(US), Winnipeg & Calgary Folk Festivals (Canada), Celtic Connections (Scotland), Port Fairy & National Folk Festival (Australia), and NPR’s ‘Folk Alley’ and ‘Mountain Stage’ Radio Shows in America. And that’s not mentioning his starring roles in the stage theatre show ‘Grievous Angel: The Legend Of Gram Parsons’, and in ‘The Beatles: Rubber Soul Revolver’ tour which saw Lane play alongside Marlon Williams and Husky in Australia’s premier concert halls including Sydney Opera House and Hamer Hall.
